About / Mission

SkyChecked verifies the sky above camp.

A field guide for the modern camper — built around honest reporting, repeatable reviews, and a trust ladder that tells you exactly where each report stands.

Mission

A clearer picture of the sky above camp.

Booking a campsite shouldn't be a guess. SkyChecked exists to give campers, RVers, remote workers, Starlink users, solar campers, stargazers, astrophotographers, drone creators, vanlifers, overlanders, and campground owners a clearer, verified picture of the usable sky above a campsite — before a reservation is made.

We focus on four things: signal, solar, stars, and photo-friendly views. Every report is labeled by trust level, so you know whether you're reading a community note or a verified field review.

Our Data Promise

Clear labels. Honest field notes.

handshake The SkyChecked Pact

SkyChecked is built around clear labels, transparent methods, and honest field notes. Community reports help point us in the right direction. Property submissions help us understand what campgrounds offer. SkyChecked Verified reports are field-tested using a repeatable review process.

Built as a Resource

A field guide, not a sales channel.

Our goal is to help campers, RVers, creators, and campground owners better understand the sky above camp. That means publishing practical guides, explaining how to test a campsite, and clearly labeling what has been submitted, reviewed, or verified.

The site grows from the ground up — community notes, property submissions, and field reviews — and is published as a public resource for the camping community.

Why It Matters

Verified data is the difference between confidence and a guess.

cell_tower

Signal is more than cell bars

Cell, WiFi, Starlink, terrain, line of sight, and field communications all shape what actually works at a campsite.

satellite_alt

Starlink needs sky

Tree canopy and ridgelines decide whether a setup actually works.

sunny

Solar lives or dies on shade

Two adjacent sites can have completely different sun exposure throughout the day.

star

Dark sky is rarer than it looks

A nearby light, an open horizon, a closed canopy — small details define the night-sky experience.

The Trust Ladder

How reports are labeled

For Campgrounds

A clearer picture for your guests.

A SkyChecked report gives campers a clearer picture of the sky above a property — from signal and solar to stars and photo-friendly views. Campgrounds can request a field review and, when one is complete, use the badge to show guests that their sky access has been reviewed.

How campgrounds can participate
  • check_circle Campgrounds can request a field review.
  • check_circle A paid review does not guarantee a positive score.
  • check_circle Reports should be useful to campers first.
  • check_circle Accuracy and transparency matter more than promotion.

When property review tiers are available, they will be priced to fund the field-guide work — never to influence the findings. The trust ladder applies to every report, paid or not.
